A new paper co-authored by our lab has just came out:

Miramontes, DeSouza, Hernández & Ceccon (2012) Non-Lévy mobility patterns of mexican Me'Phaa peasants searching for fuel wood. Human Ecology, 40 (2).

As some other papers from our lab, this work focus on foraging, but now on humans rather than termites! It analyses mobility patterns that describe walking trajectories of individual Me'Phaa peasants search and collecting fuel wood in forests in Mexico. Displacements in the searching phase seem not to be compatible with Lévy-flights and this is interpreted in the light of deterministic  searching on heavily degraded landscapes where the interaction of the individuals with their fuel wood-scarce environment produces alternative searching strategies thant the expected Lévy-fligths.

The paper is already available as 'online first' (http://www.springerlink.com/content/101592/?Content+Status=Accepted) and will appear on April's issue of Human Ecology.
